I know I'm a day late on this, and I'm ashamed for the late posting. With daily devastating trump executive order updates it feels like our precious world and illusions of progress just aren't getting a break. It's hard to balance the here and now (like homework assignments and work and family obligations blah blah blah) with these tremendous political events. How do we balance both? Shouldn't social activism take precedent in times like these? For some yes, for some no. I believe there is a way to do both! What I believe and stand for in daily life is integral to the life I wanna live and the woman I want to become. social media can be an aide to stay informed, show solidarity, and organize, #resist, and take action. (Yesterday)the army corps evacuated the final campers at standing rock. Protesters burned the remaining tents in a heartbreaking final act of defiance. Some of what is happening with the Dakota access Pipeline seems to painful to watch and while it's hard to know what to do (aside from divesting from any investment in DAPL), one thing we can do is bear witness to the horrendous consequences of the Trump administrations decision to push forward the pipeline.
