#TBT to when the #nybglibrary had a visit from Dr. Thammineni Pullaiah, a taxonomist and professor of #botany from India. Here Professor Pullaiah signs 15 of his books in our Library’s collection, alongside his wife who typed many of his manuscripts. Of his 63 books on plant families and floristic regions, his first—about embryology of Compositae, now known as the Asteraceae—is his favorite. It’s one of the largest plant families in the world and includes sunflowers and dandelions. We’re honored to have met him, and privileged to share his work!
