Today we would like to introduce the GLADSTONE from the "PORTER P.G.B" series.
We have updated the British classical P.G.B (PORTER GENTLEMAN'S BAG) which we released in 1988 and made it a new leather series useful in the current lifestyle.
The leather we use is tanned in a pit for about 20 days at one of the greatest tanners in Japan (Tochigi prefecture).
The leather tanned with mimosa containing a lot of tannnin has high durability and moisture releasing property. Also since it is covered with oil just before the final process of the manufacture, you are able to enjoy the shine and its natural aging process upon usage.
The leather is "Scotch Grain" embossed which is said it was born in England; this adds the elegant and profound atmosphere to the item.
GLADSTONE comes from the name of an UK politician "William Gladstone", and its most unique characteristic is the wide opening with a frame.

本日は、「ポーター P.G.B」シリーズからグラッドストーンをご紹介いたします。
1988年に創業半世紀を記念して発表した、クラシカルなブリティッシュテイストのP.G.B(PORTER GENTLEMAN’S BAG)シリーズを、現代のライフスタイルに即したレザーシリーズとして新たに蘇らせました。
素材は国内屈指のタンナー・栃木レザー製の革で、ピット槽で20日間かけて鞣しています。
タンニンを多く含むミモザで鞣したヌメ革は耐久性や放湿性が良く、最終仕上げの手前の段階でオイルを塗りこんでいるため、使うほどに独特の艶が増し経年変化をお楽しみいただけます。
更に、英国発祥と言われているスコッチグレインの型押しを施し、高級感のある上品で重厚な雰囲気に仕上げています。
グラッドストーンというネーミングは英国の政治家“ウィリアム・グラッドストーン”の名前に由来し、本体上部に口枠が付き真ん中から大きく割れる作りが最大の特徴です。
