Photograph by @paulnicklen // Almost 90 percent of an iceberg (or “ice mountain”) is underwater. The foot or underwater portion of this iceberg could be at well over 200 feet deep. Icebergs are stunning to look at but they are a reminder that glaciers are receding and ice shelves in Antarctica are breaking up faster than we ever thought possible. If all of Antarctica and Greenland melted, global sea level could rise by as much as 230 feet, covering all of the major coastal cities in the world.
