Jazzy update. Oncologist and emergency vet recommended to put her down because she is hurting so much. Her elbow is broken in two places because of her bone cancer. The cancer is spread to her lungs but it's an early stage she doesn't feel it yet per the oncologist. She said they don't usually do amputation if it's spread as it can only give 1-3 months to live after. I tried to see clarity or find an answer so that I would do the right thing by her. I almost accepted the ultimate option because the professionals told me to. But something didn't feel right. Then it hit me. Putting her down now means we are putting her down for a fractured leg. How is that the right decision? If we fight, there is a chance she might get to walk again for a little while and even go to the beach one more time. I just can't let her go like this. Consulted my regular vet and she agreed that Jazzy isn't ready yet. My husband said he would support any decision I make. When I told him that I wanted to give her the chance to fight, he was pleased. He said he would have been disappointed if I chose the other option. He has been incredible with her and me through this. (I know that's my silver lining) I just dropped her off at the Gulf coast for the amputation surgery. If all goes well, the pain will be gone. My heart is hurting so much for having to leave her here but they will be able to control her pain better here than at home. I went back to see her. She stood up and started wagging her cotton tail like crazy. She whined and snuggled on me like she always has before the leg broke. I asked her "Do you want to go for a walk?" She tilted her head. I told her we will. Please pray that her surgery goes well and that she will be OK. . Ps. Your kind and caring comments are helping me to get through this. I know so many of you have gone through this pain and you can understand the pain. Thank you.
