Tech Tip Tuesday:
Outdoor photography isn't always sunsets and rainbows... rain, snow, mud and other elements are often part of the menu for the day. So when the weather gets wet, or funky in the backcountry I do my best to embrace the grit of the day. The next time you're out and it's raining, throw an old, beat up UV filter on the front of your lens and let the rain, snow or mud sit on the front and shoot away. Often this added layer of Mother Nature helps create more story and depth to your frames.
For this image specifically I let the rain collect on the bottom left of my lens, and then purposely pointed one of my flashes back at the camera, not to illuminate the rider, but instead the rain on the front of my lens. Like my boy @willsaundersphoto says "cameras are tools not jewels"... @kylestrait throwing down in soCal in the pouring winter, rain.
