@veronikaheilbrunner on mastering the art of Instagram... “These days, with social media and email, it can feel impossible to switch off – so I just started horseback riding again, which is really cool. I learned to ride when I was six years old, but then I stopped when I was a teenager because, when you’re 13, going to parties sounds more interesting than horses. But I’ve recently taken it up again and go once or twice a week with some of my friends and we do lessons with different stables in Berlin. It’s so great because I leave my phone in the car. You can’t take it with you – where would you put it?! – and so it’s the one time when I don’t think about anything. Saying that, though, I do love social media; I feel like Instagram has made everyone an editor – you choose who you want to follow, or who you think is interesting, and all of their images get mixed up in your feed so it’s like creating your own version of a magazine. There are a few accounts I really love, generally the sorts that aren’t conventionally presented and that feel a bit intimate – like @michelgaubert for example, because he’s so funny, or @アレクサ・チャン's because, even though she’s so famous, she still manages to make it really personal.”
