From a documentary by @mattiasklumofficial A dream coming true! During one of my expeditions in Borneo I spent a good 4 months up in the canopy, mainly trying to visualize animal life high above ground in this ancient forest! After many weeks I finally managed to get unique images and sequences of orangutans. Please go to @mattiasklumofficial to meet a couple of orphaned orangs with an attitude! After all that time waiting 150 feet (or more) in different blinds, this particular moment and sequence of an orangutan baby reconnecting with its mother is one of my careers most epic and emotional moments, stuck in my heart! Orangutans spend much of their time (some 90 percent) in the trees of their tropical rain forest home so there are really no shortcuts if you want to get the best images. Orangutans are more solitary than other apes. Mothers and their young, however, share a strong bond. Infants will stay with their mothers for some six or seven years until they develop the skills to survive on their own. Unfortunately, deforestation and other human activities, such as hunting and the palm oil industry have placed the orangutan in danger of extinction. An increasing number of wild orangutans will be sentenced to a long life in captivity or killed by poaching, logging operations or fires out of control. Help save the orangutan and the rainforest! Support organizations like WWF or BOS and by sharing this message!
