photograph by @chamiltonjames / Charlie Hamilton James - 3 year old Roi drinks her milk under the caring and watchful eye of Julius at the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust elephant orphanage in Nairobi, Kenya. Roi was orphaned at 5 months old when her mother was killed by a poacher using a poison tipped arrow in the Masai Mara. Poison arrows, tipped with a latex made from the acokanthera tree are used as a silent and lethal means of killing elephants for their ivory. Roi, despite her sad story, is one of the lucky ones as she is now safe and living amongst other orphan elephants.
