G-SHOCK × BONSAI：MR-G 20th Anniversary Art

「MR-G」の誕生20周年を記念した企画「G-SHOCK × BONSAI」。数百年の時を超えて生き続ける盆栽。そして、腐食を防ぐチタンボディや、ソーラー発電など、時を刻み続けるための技術が凝縮された「MR-G」。この二つに共通する日本人のモノづくりへの思いを、小さな時計の箱の中に表現しました。ビジュアルは「MR-G」のコンセプトをもとに具現化され、3つの盆栽が誕生しました。

枯れてもなお美しく、悠久の時を経て、深い趣で存在すること。

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of MR-G, we unveil “G-SHOCK x BONSAI” ― art pieces that embody MR-G’s product concept. Japanese bonsai is able to keep living for centuries. In the same way, MR-G is able to keep going for centuries, with its solar battery, titanium casing, and other technologies that enable it to keep perpetual time. What ties them together is the Japanese passion for precision and craftsmanship. Both are represented in the watch box. Three bonsai pieces were created, with each highlighting a different aspect of MR-G.

“蒼枯 SOKO,” which refers to the sublime beauty and charm achieved despite the withering effects of time, is the title of this piece.
