It’s been a warm fall in the Rockies. Yesterday some of us were wearing flip flops. In the middle of November. While the sun felt nice on our toes, it’s just wrong to be wearing flip flops in the mountains in November. We love winter here at Oboz. Not just because we love to ski and snowshoe, ice climb and explore. We love winter because it is an essential season. Snowpack gives us water, come spring. Our wild neighbors—bears, wolves, moose, and more—have adapted so that winter is an essential part of their lifecycle. We know that there have always been and always will be weather fluctuations. And we also know that climate change is a scientifically proven situation, which is why we take great steps to mitigate our environmental impact. We offset our carbon use for shipping, employee travel, our home office utilities, and even our employee commute to and from work. We use as few resources as we can. We support our friends in the industry who understand how important it is we work together to reduce our carbon footprint so that we can preserve wildlands for future generations.
But that’s not the only reason for this post. Jason Spafford and Lisa Morris of Two Wheeled Nomad are wearing our boots and often send us terrific images from their adventures. These ones of a recent snowfall in Lake Louise, Alberta, Canada, warmed our hearts. Snow. It’s so much fun.
