I felt very honoured and humbled to receive my retirement award on Sunday night surrounded by so many friends and family. I have grown up on the Australian Swim team. In 2005 I was a shy 16 year old who was petrified to make the team with so many of my idols. I now leave the sport 11 years later as a confident 27 year old with so many wonderful experiences and memories I will always cherish. I am lucky to be able to walk away from the sport exactly how I had imagined with a PB and an Olympic medal. There are so many people to thank who have supported and loved me throughout my journey. My beautiful family and friends who don't care whether I swim well or not, just love me for who I am. All of my wonderful coaches, in particular, Bohly who taught me so many lessons that will hold me in good stead for the rest of my life. The incredible unsung heroes of the team, the support staff, for keeping me together physically and mentally for longer than expected and to Speedo for sticking by me the whole time.
I am looking forward to my next chapter and feel well equipped because of the great people who I've met over the last decade. I'll miss everyone so much. Stay in touch and thanks for the Memories!
