A Buddhist monk cares for a spotted deer he rescued when he found it alone in the forest near the ruins of Ritigala Monastery, in the center of Sri Lanka. About 70 percent of Sri Lankans, including most of the majority Sinhalese, are Buddhist. Sri Lanka is considered the oldest continually Buddhist nation.
