Photograph by @Thomas Peschak Like miners these Aldabra giant tortoises line up single file and begin the climb underground. They are not after mineral riches but are desperately seeking shade and cooler temperatures. If not in the coral cave by late morning they will be cooked to death in their shells by Aldabra atoll's fierce sun. This incredible behavior was only recently discovered by biologists Dr. Dennis Hansen and Rich Baxter from the University of Zurich.
