BENI OUARAIN Rug September 16 Launched ベニワレンはモロッコの中アトラス北西部にあるベニワレンと言う村にてアトラス山脈付近一帯に住む遊牧民ベルベル族系の女性達の手によって織られている。染を一切行わずナチュラルな羊毛と黒や茶の羊毛を用い一つ一つ時間をかけ織り上げる逸品です。ふかふかとリッチな毛足の長さが特徴で、特に柔らかい毛並みは仔羊を使用した物もあり、また長い年月を経て使い込むほどに馴染み、毛が柔らかくなりシルクの様な光沢を発します。そして何と言っても最大の特徴がミニマルで洗練された幾何学模様のデザインにあり、描かれている菱形デザインは「家を守る」という意味も込められている。一つ一つ模様が異なり、なかには星やクロス模様などがプラスされた物も存在する。 1960年代〜1970年代に掛けて作られた物が多く、50年経った今だからこそその独特の艶と幾何学模様が他にはないミニマルでモダンな雰囲気を醸し出している。 CPCMでは、日本の家(8畳間)にもちょうど良いサイズ感の2m台×1m台と1m台×1m台の大きさのラグを中心に集めました。北欧では非常に人気が高く、建築家のアールトやイームズにも愛されたベニワレンラグをこの機会に是非とも実際に手に取ってご覧下さい。ご来店お待ちしております。 BENI OUARAIN Rugs are hand woven by the women of Berber’s nomad who dwell in the village of Beni Ouarain located in the Atlas Northwestern region in Morocco. It is one of the hallmarks of rugs, which are woven one thread by one with time and uses only undyed natural and black wool. Rich, fluffy and thick-piled, are its major characteristics and some are made of lambswool for the velvety coat. When used over time, the coat gets even softer and conforms to shine like silk. Above all, these magnificent rug’s features can be found to be cultivated yet with minimal geometric designs, and the emblazoned diamond design has a meaning “to protect the house.” Each of the shapes and designs are different and on some you can find stars, crosses, and circular patterns added on. Many were made during the 1960s and 1970s and the geometric designs and polishes that are made over 50 years ago exude minimal yet modern vibe where you cannot find anywhere else.
