The Palouse Scenic Byway is an area in eastern Washington state where you can drive through endless undulating hills. If you make your way up Steptoe Butte, you can see how endlessly the Palouse stretches on. These hills were formed way back in the Ice Age, when loess was carried by the wind and settled in piles up to 250 feet. The incredibly fertile land is now where farmers produce wheat, lentils, and many other crops. In the city of Pullman, WA there is even a National Lentil Festival (August 19-20) where you can meet the mascot: Tase T.
