Hosts Egypt have shown their intention right from the start of the 2016 #FIBAU18Africa women’s Championship as they posted a comprehensive 92 -43 win on Friday night.

In their tournament opener against Algeria, the home side got off to a quick start and led 30 - 9 at the end of the first quarter.

Egypt extended their advantage by pouring in 21 points making the most of turnovers by Algeria for a 52-12 lead at halftime.

Radwa Sherif had a pivotal role, and led all the scorers with 21 points and 13 rebounds in their winning cause.

Four her teammates including Meral Abdelgawad, Rana Abdelfattah, Nadine Rehan and Mariam Khalaf finishing with a double digit.

On the side, Algeria's Soulef Malkia poured in 14 points but that could not change things for her team.

With this good start, Egypt who are chasing their second continental crown in this age category, will be more confident while taking off debutant Madagascar in their Day 2 game scheduled for Monday 29 August.
