Ever been told off for taking photos in a museum? This is the night for you. On Friday 2 September join some of the biggest Instagram users from Sydney’s design community for an exclusive opportunity to get an after-hours look at the Powerhouse Museum as you’ve never seen it before.

The beautiful specimen pictured is a camera from our own collection. The Speed Graphic is often vaunted as the press camera of the mid twentieth century and this reputation is well deserved. The Pulitzer Prizes for photography for the years 1942-1954 were taken with Speed Graphic cameras. This particular camera is one of several used by C.J. Bickley & Son Photographers in Sydney from 1946 until 1988. The Bickley Photographic studios expanded rapidly into a service providing race photography of the winning greyhounds and horses at most track meetings in the Sydney metropolitan area and beyond.
