A Bajau woman in her dugout canoe paddles below a stilt home with her daily catch. The Bajau are a stateless, nomadic people who live entirely on the sea living on boats or in stilted homes above the water. They move around based on food and resources. They live very simple lives with little possessions. Daily life includes fishing and spearfishing, cooking, resting and daily chores. I ended up staying in a Bajau stilt home which was about 10’ x 20’ that had 2 families living it. Everything happens within that space - cooking in one corner, sleeping in another, the other is for going to the bathroom. Any of the home goods that they had were hand made from materials found from the beach or traded from other sea gypsies.
