1. Silica gel packets: I travel with these in all of my bags - as moisture can wreak havoc on digital equipment. Often, the basic problems get overlooked. While good cases can go a long way toward protecting your gear, they don’t always keep moisture out - especially condensation.

2. Travel Light: It's fun to nerd out and make your pack as light as possible. But, it’s also super important to keep in mind that pairing down your gear is an ever-evolving process.

3. Auxiliary battery supply: On-hand, auxiliary battery sources are essential for when you will be away from electricity for a long period of time. I personally carry various Goal Zero chargers to ensure that I keep my phone, camera batteries, and other devices fully charged. Great for use while in the car or in between locations.

4. Do your research: It’s important to do your research. But, don’t get so caught up in the “plan” that you overlook those powerful, magical moments that naturally unfold before you.

5. Talk to the locals: This is the best way to learn about foreign cultures. That’s not explained to you in a travel guide. I always express gratitude towards the local people that cross my path for their generosity. It helps me build incredibly fruitful relationships worldwide.
