Born in Pittsburgh in 1928, #AndyWarhol began his prolific career as a commercial artist. During the 1960's, Warhol started appropriating images from popular culture and created paintings that remain icons of 20th-century art. Warhol's avant-garde films have also become classics of the underground genre.
Today, August 6th, marks the 88th birthday of the American Artist widely regarded as a defining figure not only of the Pop Art movement of the 1960s but of an entire cultural era.
