Today on Magnum Photos: Harry Gruyaert’s rediscovered 1982 photographs of the Tour de France.

After finding and rescanning the original Kodachrome film, brilliant colors and details of Harry Gruyaert’s 1982 Tour de France story were revealed. Still captivating today, these images were especially distinctive at the time as most other photographs documenting the sport were black & white. The close access Gruyaert had to the cyclists is also long gone now.
