@nytfood is celebrating #Eid with recipes by @enopratiwi, the chef behind the pop-up restaurant @kakilimaboston, which is named for Indonesia’s street-food stalls. @enopratiwi cooks the food she loves to eat — the food she grew up eating in Indonesia. Recreating the taste of home is never easy, and when it comes to the recipes @enopratiwi likes to make, finding the right ingredients can be half the challenge. While on assignment for @nytfood, Katherine Taylor photographed ingredients for opor ayam (chicken curry), including shallots, lemongrass, coconut milk, candlenuts, ginger and coriander seeds. This luxurious chicken stew, which @enopratiwi grew up eating on special occasions in West Java, is a staple of the #Indonesian kitchen, made by simmering the meat in coconut milk with curry paste and lemongrass.
