one of the most interesting and impactful building projects in berlin is the complete transformation of the city’s western half, often referred to as „city west“. since berlin’s reunification in 1989 developers have been building smart new homes in areas of the former east that were crumbling and shabby, but now as prices started to explode in the old east berlin and developable land became rare, developers rediscovered their interest in the „city west“ which has found itself in the grip of a building boom.
looking at this picture i can’t help but wonder how the skyline of our „city west“ will look like when i take it again in a few years.
