It was the last wish of grandmother, Jill Tookey, that her granddaughter, ten-year-old ballerina Ella, visit Buckingham Palace to collect her CBE.

Ms Tookey founded the National Youth Ballet 29 years ago, which inspired and encouraged thousands of children to go on to have professional careers in dance and the arts.

Ella dances at the National Youth Ballet, where her grandmother served as artistic director for nearly three decades. Ms Tookey wanted Ella to pick up the CBE at Buckingham Palace today to encourage her granddaughter to follow her dreams.
