California, it's time! We don't usually get too preachy, and before this comment section goes off and people tell us to "shut up and just make clothes" we want to say we love all of you, regardless. Tomorrow we have a primary in our home state of California and we believe that it is critical that you let your voice be heard. All we're hearing these days is #nevertrump and "anyone but trump", and while we wholeheartedly agree, we ALSO believe that we have a truly great candidate who could be so much more than "anyone but". That person is Bernie Sanders and if you haven't already done your research, here are a few reasons we're "Feeling the Bern": 1. The Sanders campaign is funded by the people, not Super PACS. Corporations are not "people", as some would like you to believe, and no candidate should step into office owing "favors" to interest groups for getting them into power. Politicians are there to be OUR voice, not the voice of the NRA, Big Pharmaceutical or Wall Street. 2. Clinton's altered position on LGBT rights. Hillary is on the record as being against gay marriage, and while she has since modified her position we know that Bernie has consistently been on the right side of all Human Rights issues, having backed the first Gay Pride Day in his home state of Vermont back in 1985 as well as voting against "Don't Ask, Don't Tell", marching with Dr. King in the 60’s as well as countless other demonstrations of humanity and brotherhood. 3. Clinton voted FOR the Iraq war and the Patriot Act, Bernie voted against both. 4. Polls show that Sanders would greatly outperform Hillary in the general election. If this whole #nevertrump thing is going to happen we need to put the best opponent we can have up against him. In this case, that person is Bernie. Almost all polls show Bernie destroying Trump in most of the key battleground states needed in order to win the Presidency. 5. Decriminalization of Marijuana? Clinton? Nope. Bernie? Yup. These are but a few of many reasons we support Bernie Sanders. Again, we love you, and if you disagree, that's your right. <3 UNIF
