Photo by @shonephoto (Robbie Shone) - Stromboli is one of the most active volcanoes on Earth and has been erupting almost continuously since 1932. Widely known for its spectacular eruptions, which jet out fountains of molten rock from its lava-filled central crater, Stromboli forms the northeastern-most of the Aeolian islands in southern Italy. Last week I managed to grab this image just before hiking back down the volcanoes ash strewn slopes to the coast.
