REPOST @itsmechadking: I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2007. Getting the news from your doctor that you will be paralyzed within 7 years is one of the hardest things to ever experience. I sunk so low for many days after. It didn't make sense to me that my brain and nervous system was attacking itself for no apparent reason. "It is what it is" my doctor said. For it to be completely out of my control felt impossible. There had to be SOMETHING I could do.
I remember being in a London hotel room some time after this, trying to go to bed, and I became suddenly overwhelmed with joy. I started crying and laughing like a crazy person at how amazing life was - at how fortunate I was to be living. I realized that my stress and worry about the disease would only be increasing the likelihood of my doctor's prediction so I decided that I would instead tackle this thing head on and do my research.
I've learned so much about diet and nutrition and how it effects the body, and I will continue to learn as I keep on this journey. I will do everything in my power to feed my soul and feed this body what it needs to be it's best. I will never stop running.
