ニューヨーク・タイムズのインスタグラム(nytimes) - 5月20日 02時12分

For the paparazzi of the 1920s and 1930s, New York’s harbor was the place to be. One of the most reliable ways for a photographer to catch celebrities on film was to wait at the piers, where the ships came in. In that era, it simply did not do to arrive at America’s great port in flip-flops; to voyage was to live out a national fantasy, and disembarking was a public performance. A @ニューヨーク・タイムズ photographer was there in 1921 when Lucien Muratore and his wife, Lina Cavalieri, of the Chicago Opera, arrived in New York aboard the S.S. Aquitania. This photo was published in The Mid-Week Pictorial, a magazine introduced by @ニューヨーク・タイムズ in 1914 to show war pictures.
