Mum; Thank you for all the sacrifices you made for me;
THANK YOU; for getting your first ever speeding ticket (which you talked your way out of!) because 5 year old me wanted to get home to watch Punky Brewster.
For not letting me change my name to 'Whitney Brittany Courtney Wills' as to pay homage to all my favorite Young Talent Time actors; I’m not sure how much jewellery we would see if that was the name of the brand today.
For all the trips to & from basketball training, games & weekend games + all the games you had to sit there & watch when I’m sure you had a million other things to do with your Wed, Fri nights & weekends.
For letting me have creative freedom in my bedroom growing up; allowing me to paint celestial suns & moons in silver paint on the walls, hang troll dolls from the roof, drape Xmas lights around my bed, and all the furniture I would paint murals on. I am aware not many parents would allow this, & I truly thank you you did, because I know it allowed me to think with such creative freedom & enthusiasm from such a young age, and is a major reason I think like I do now in business.
For not letting me dye my hair red with Napro colour, because I wanted to look like Angel from Home & Away, and for convincing me that I would achieve the same look with two braids & a black chocker necklace; you where right.
For all the parties you drove my friends & I to in high school, and especially for the all the same parties that you came back to at 2am to pick us all up!
For nursing me through the worst of broken hearts, especially the most recent – I’m sure it was hard for you to see my 16 year heart break, & you would sit with me on my bed & hold me til the tears stopped,I can only imagine how hard it is for you to see my adult heart broken & have to hear my tears down the phone line from the other side of the world,but just like you have done each time, you sat there with me, no matter what time it was where you were & waited on the phone til the tears stopped.
I want to let you know how much I truly appreciate all you have done for me, to make me the woman I am today, & how much I continue to admire all that you do.
