It is on this day that we celebrate the growth and happiness of children throughout Japan.

One of the many traditions on this day is to eat Kashiwa mochi or sweet bean filled rice cakes wrapped in oak leaves.
Oak trees do not shed their leaves until new leaves grow, symbolising prosperity and legacy throughout life.
