So much of our lives had been dedicated to the dream of one day climbing in this powerfully wild place. It was surreal to finally be there, and I had an overwhelming sense of isolation, exposure, and fear. I can’t think of too many people that I would trust my life with on a trip like this, @daveallfrey is one of them. Our objective was to climb a first ascent on The Great Cross Pillar, and it was necessary to make portaledge camps along the way where we could eat, sleep, hydrate, and mentally recharge.
