The film "Purple Rain" premiered at the Chinese Theater in Hollywood in July, 1984. In attendance were Steven Spielberg, Jim Carrey, Pee-Wee Herman, Lionel Richie, Harold Ramis, Devo, and many others. They all walked the Purple Carpet which is diagrammed here in a blueprint from the Marty Weiser papers which are housed at the Margaret Herrick Library.
