Photo by @christianziegler Home sweet home: the Fanged Pitcher-Plant (Nepenthes biclacarata) and the carpenter ant Camponotes schmitzi have a mutualistic relationship: while the plant provides a home to the small ant colony (up to 30 or so individuals) in the stem of its pitcher, the ants remove overly large insects from the pitcher and thus keep the chemistry of the pitcher liquid balanced.
