今週は、皆さんと一緒に、世界遺産になる前に、行ってみたい絶景を巡っています！
アメリカのニューメキシコ州の荒野に忽然と現れる純白の砂漠、それがホワイトサンズ国定公園です。東京の約4分の1程の面積を誇ります。雨や雪解け水によって溶かし出された石膏などの鉱物が乾燥して結晶となりました。その結晶が長い年月をかけて風化し、浸食され、砂状に砕かれて現在の白砂漠を形成しました。
