Joseph and Vanessa Friedman of @ニューヨーク・タイムズ sat down with @SpencerCBailey of @SURFACEMAG yesterday for Design Dialogues, discussing everything from how they got their start in the industry, to their take on the state speed of fashion today.
JA, on sometimes taking a different, or outside perspective to fashion: 'What I really love about Vanessa's writing is that a lot of times, she is looking at something from the point of view of a larger societal or cultural moment...something as simple as a boot or a blouse and how is shown can be a reflection of the times we live...
And I hope that sometimes I have the same approach (when designing.) Sometimes when my team and I start thinking about the collection, I'm trying to think about the moment we live in and the cultural zeitgeist, what I'm feeling and how I can express that in my collections...it's an important process for me to go through and to think about."
