#Regram #RG @Lewa_Wildlife: Lewa, alongside the Northern Rangelands Trust - @nrt_kenya - is delighted to announce the birth of a black rhino in NRT's Sera Community Conservancy! The week-old, healthy calf has made history - it is the first rhino to be born in community land in northern Kenya for over 25 years, decades before the dramatic decline of the species across the country. The new mother, fondly named Naitamany, was translocated from Lewa to Sera in May 2015 as part of a ground-breaking project to reintroduce black rhino to Samburu. To NRT and Lewa, more than anything, this birth is a symbol of how community-centric conservation is changing the northern Kenya landscape.
