Swansea 1-0 Villa – FT: Villa were dealt a sucker punch as Federico Fernandez’s header gave Swansea the points. Having been on top throughout the first half – with Rudy Gestede, Jordan Ayew and Joleon Lescott all going close – Rémi Garde’s men were unable to make their pressure count. And they suffered a killer blow nine minutes into the second half when Fernandez bundled the ball home after beating the onrushing Brad Guzan to Gylfi Sigurdsson’s free-kick. Sadly Villa’s search for an equaliser proved fruitless.
