The #MetBreuer opens next Friday, March 18! This Leonardo da Vinci work is on view in the inaugural exhibition “Unfinished: Thoughts Left Visible.” The landmark exhibition examines a subject that is critical to artistic practice: the question of when a work of art is finished. With over 190 works dating from the Renaissance to the present, the exhibition demonstrates the type of groundbreaking show that can result when the Museum mines its vast collection and curatorial resources to present modern and contemporary art within a deep historical context.
This unfinished portrayal of a young woman with disheveled hair is principally a brush drawing with some pigment, its treatment similar to other incomplete works by the artist.
