Photo @Keith Ladzinski / Home to the tallest sand dunes in North America, #greatsanddunesnationalpark sits prominently in the north east side of the San Luis valley at the foot of the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. Geologist estimate that the dunes began forming some 440,000 years ago and are growing each day. This photo was taken in calm and quite conditions, mere minutes before a fierce sand storm fueled by 50mph winds picked up, forcing me to hike out in less then desirable conditions with friends @andy_mann @gregoryalanisakov @calstrin
