Villa 0-2 Everton – Goals from Ramiro Funes Mori and Aaron Lennon have left Villa with a mountain to climb. Funes Mori gave Everton the lead with the first real chance of the evening, rising highest to head home a Kevin Mirallas corner. After an uncomfortable first 15 minutes, the hosts managed to get a foothold in the game. Jordan Ayew’s attempt from the edge of the box deflected off James McCarthy before running through to Joel Robles. Robles punched to safety on 23 minutes when a Funes Mori clearance ricocheted off Agbonlahor, who raced on to Leandro Bacuna’s clever through ball. Ashley Westwood became the next Villa player to test the Toffees keeper with fierce low drive which was tipped behind. And Micah Richards narrowly missed the target with an acrobatic effort from Bacuna’s corner. However, Roberto Martinez’s men hit Villa on the break - Aaron Lennon side-footing Mirallas’ cutback past Brad Guzan to make it 2-0.
