The #MetBreuer's other inaugural exhibition, “Unfinished: Thoughts Left Visible” examines a subject critical to artistic practice: the question of when a work of art is finished. On view from March 18 to September 4, the exhibition features 197 works dating from the Renaissance to the present and demonstrates The Met’s unique capacity to mine its rich collections and scholarly resources to present modern and contemporary art within a deep historical context.

While working on this portrait Gustav Klimt died. A beautiful example of his famous portrayals of women, this unfinished work gives fascinating insight into the artist's process.
