We started demolition on Saturday, and now we have a functional space, even though unfinished - and a kitchen that is feeling SO much bigger. Currently Ellen is building a custom cabinet using wood from the removed upper cabinetry to go opposite the stove, which used to sit snug against the wall - moving it over creates a more unified, purposeful space. Today I am tackling priming the wall and sanding and painting the cabinet and drawer fronts - and hopefully starting tile work. From demo to now, this is 14 hours of work...and a huge difference already. ALSO - this is me attempting to share more of the real in life, the unfinished, the in-between, the imperfect - and I hope to continue to do this. After sharing a pretty photo a few mornings ago, accompanied by words of the reality behind it, I recognized that juxtaposing the two really resonated with many. I want to continue this honesty while still putting forth beautiful imagery, and while it may take some time, I hope to find a balance.
