M: "Your husband started crying over frustration from being homeless?" J: "Yes he has, many times." M: "[When I saw him] he was so sad, he’s like Christmas is coming, we have a big family…" J: "It’s a big stress, yes." M: "You had a whole church ceremony I heard." J: "Yes we did, in Houston. It was gay pride themed." M: "Are you religious?" J: "I believe in God. My husband brought me to God." M: "Did that help you with getting sober?" J: “Yes." M: "He said you’ve been three years sober and he’s been already seven years sober?" J: "Yes, yes." M: "What was your addiction?" J: "Mine was crack cocaine and methamphetamines. Crack was hardest [to quit]. I was on it for eleven years." M: "Because it’s just such a rush?" J: "Anyone tho takes their first hit is not… they’re not gonna stop. It’s like that. It’s like you fall for it once, you’re gonna keep falling for it. And it went on like that for eleven years. Three years, clear headed, I love it. I love being able to think of myself instead of thinking for the drug. Do what I want instead of what it wants. I go out and enjoy myself during the day. I used to spend my days and my nights looking for the drug. Not no more. My life is mine again, thanks go to him [my boyfriend] and the rest to God.” .
