Martin: “So you’ve had a run in with crystal meth too?”
Max: “Yeah.”
Martin: “What’s happening? So many young, beautiful people out here…”
Max: “It’s…it’s like… You know what it is? It’s so epidemic. It’s like everywhere you walk, everywhere you turn, somebody is offering it to you, somebody is. You can’t get away from it no matter where you go. I lived out by LAX airport, out in Inglewood. It was everywhere. I lived out here in Hollywood, it’s everywhere, no matter where you go, where you turn, somebody is offering it o you some how, some way and you’re just like…even when you want to quit and you want to get away from it, you just can’t sometimes. You’re like ‘fuck, this sucks’.”
Martin: “And it’s cheap too, right?”
Max: “Well a lot of times, people just offer it to you for free.”
Martin: “Where do you guys stay at night?”
Max: “Right now I sleep in my car. I’m trying to look for a job right now and trying to look for a place…”
Martin: “Nobody would ever know you live on the street, you got a clean shirt on, clean hat, you walk into a job interview…”
Max: “I have a bad criminal history though.”
Martin: “What did you do?”
Max: “From grand thefts to petty thefts to aiding and abetting and manufacturing chop shops to a lot of things, a lot of things. So it’s hard.”
Martin: “So you have mechanic skills?”
Max: “I have a lot of mechanical skills….Right now I’m just trying to get back on my feet and now that I met a good person I wanna change for the better. And it’s hard because nobody wants to give me the chance ‘cause you made that one mistake in the past and it’s like it bites you in the butt the whole time.”
Martin: “What is a mistake you made?”
Max: “Well, they caught me with forty-six stolen high-end cars in a warehouse out in San Pedro."
