Villa 0-1 West Ham – HT: We dominated the first period but were hit by Aaron Cresswell’s sucker-punch on the stroke of half time. The West Ham full-back drilled a left-foot shot across Brad Guzan moments before the break to put his side ahead against the run of play. Rémi Garde’s team had been on top with Rudy Gestede glancing a header just wide from Jordan Veretout’s cross, while Hammers keeper Adrian made a brilliant double save to deny Leandro Bacuna and Gestede.
