Photo by @shonephoto (Robbie Shone) - After a tiring 8-hour hike up the mountain in knee-deep snow, our small team of six reached the isolated base camp on top of Conturines - Spitze in the Italian Dolomites. Thankfully, those that caught a lift up in the helicopter earlier that day had already established camp and had hot tea and coffee waiting for us when we arrived. The camp allowed us good access to the entrance of El Cenote cave where we would spend the next two days exploring and surveying the big room at the bottom of the giant vertical pit.
