Photograph by @brianfinke. At the Monell Chemical Senses Center, children are subject to a series of taste tests from the age of two weeks to fourteen months. The children are fed, by their mother, a range of bitter to sweet foods. It's been discovered that as children age, reactions may vary. They prefer much higher levels of sweet and salt, and they are more sensitive to some bitters than adults are. Featured in "The Science of Delicious" story in the current issue of National Geographic.
