With official vote tallies seemingly confirming a landslide victory for the opposition, #Myanmar is electrified by the prospect of its long-suffering democracy movement taking control of Parliament and the executive branch. For the past five decades, the military establishment has ruled the country in one way or another. The opposition party — led by the Nobel Peace laureate Daw Aung San Suu Kyi — achieved an apparently lopsided triumph in Sunday’s landmark elections.
