Maybe there is still a chance to save Herman Muenster from being declawed.
I’ve tried to go about this in a private way and educate this practice in Ohio about the negative consequences of declawing and tried to inspire them to let all the kittens and cats keep their toe bones and claws and at least be given a chance to live their lives with these body parts that are so important to their health and well being.
The manager told my mom that the reason they declaw the kittens and cats when people bring them in for adoption, is because, “it’s easier on kittens when they are young and easier to find homes for them.” She told me this the long time @avmavets member vet uses a laser and that “laser declaw deadens nerve endings and they don’t feel as much pain, there isn’t as much blood, you don’t even have to use a tourniquet, and even the older cats do quite well.” She said that they believe it is humane and ok, “if they are going to be inside.” I asked if she would please try their adoption process without declawing and try to instill a humane and healthier mindset in their cat owner clients by educating them on the facts about declawing and how bad it is to do to a kitten or cat and teach them that the humane alternatives do work with training, time, and patience.
Her response, “We are going to keep declawing kittens.” Do you think there are any negative consequences to declawing my mom asked her? “No, we haven’t really seen any.” My mom asked her to go to the PawProject.org so that she would educate herself on all the facts about declawing and she said “You have a good day,” and hung up. What more can I do to help save kitties? Doors just keep shutting and it seems like no amount of education, inspiration, reaching out, or trying to instill a modern and humane mindset works with vet practices like this or with the big veterinary associations.
REMEMBER, PLEASE do NOT threaten them or cyber bully them otherwise they will turn this around, and in the mindset of their veterinary association, will make THEMSELVES the victims. We know the real victims are all the kitties they are senselessly, cruelly, and unnecessarily declawing.?#inhumane #help
